Mackie Bounds, BMI

Mackie Bounds, CEO

Mr. Bounds grew up in the retail carpet business. He came in contact with the masonry world at the age of 16 while working as a laborer. Since that time, he has always worked in some phase of construction. Upon graduating, he pursued a career in landscaping, became a landscape designer and at the age of 21 owned and operated a successful wholesale greenhouse and plant leasing business. Mr. Bounds moved to Texas in 1980 and worked in Waco for Barsh Construction and Kent Mill & Supply (architectural design and woodworking manufacturer) as an estimator. Throughout this time he remained fascinated with the masonry industry and continued to take advantage of opportunities in masonry. In 1982, Mr. Bounds became Vice-President of Al Brown Masonry (a commercial masonry contractor) and helped the company grow into one of the leading masonry contractors in the southwest United States. In 1989, Al Brown moved to Colorado and Mr. Bounds decided that the time was right to pursue his dream. After careful planning and crafting of a business plan (along with a policy and procedure manual) to operate a commercial masonry contracting firm, on March 21, 1989, Brazos Masonry, Inc. (BMI) was born. Shortly thereafter, James Clay and Walter Dossett joined as partners in the business and BMI quickly became recognized by their competitors as a leader in the industry.

Pete Groetzinger, BMI

Pete Groetzinger, CFO

Mr. Groetzinger joined Brazos Masonry Inc. as a partner and CFO in January 2002. Following completion of an Engineering degree from Vanderbilt University and an MBA in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin, he forged a successful and distinguished career in the oil and gas industry. Having worked as an energy trader in London, Manhattan, and Houston, Mr. Groetzinger’s final position before moving to Waco to join BMI was Vice President of Valero Marketing & Supply Corporation in San Antonio. Mr. Groetzinger also serves on the Board of the Texas Masonry Council.

Ed Motley, Executive Vice-President

Mr. Motley studied Construction Science at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. He has over 30 years of experience in the construction industry. He is experienced in an array of delivery methods from lump sum projects and cost-plus projects to CMAR and Design/Build Projects. He is also experienced in integrated Project Delivery. Mr. Motley has over 25 years of estimating experience in commercial construction projects. He began his career in the United States Marine Corps serving as an Engineer Technician while being crossed trained as a Combat Engineer. He also served as Platoon Sergeant of his platoon while stationed in Yuma, Arizona. After being honorably discharged from the military, Mr. Motley moved back to Texas where he continued his construction career with C.F. Jordan, L.P. Throughout his career he worked with BMI on multiple successful projects. In 2011, Mr. Bounds started a new commercial construction company and brought Mr. Motley on Board to run the company.

Robin Thomas, Office Manager, Corporate Secretary

Robin has over 30 years’ experience in the construction industry she was employed at Brazos Masonry, Inc., for 23 years until February 2018. She started at BMI as a bookkeeper and was quickly promoted to Chief Bookkeeper and then Office Manager in 2001. She became an Officer of the Corporation (Corporate Secretary) in 2005. She was over all of the accounting and administration for BMI. In February 2018, she was transferred to Bounds Commercial Construction, LLC Team, which is owned by BMI as the Office Manager. Before coming to the construction industry she worked in the oilfield industry in Hobbs, New Mexico. Robin is not only recognized within the construction industry, but also in the banking and insurance industries for her abilities and knowledge. She has been an asset to BMI for many years and now for Bounds Commercial Construction, LLC. Mrs. Thomas will serve and be responsible for all accounting and administration to all projects.

Chris Guerrero, Project Manager

Mr. Guerrero has been in the construction industry for the past 8 years. He graduated from the University of Houston in 2015 obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management. After graduation he went off to work for one of the biggest General Contracting Companies (Balfour Beatty Construction) in Austin Tx. His position there as a Project Engineer taught him all construction functions/aspects in the commercial industry from the start, and completion of the project. His experience includes project management and estimating in both residential and commercial construction. Chris, serves as the Project Manager and is responsible for planning, designing, processing, supervising, budgeting, and scheduling all while reducing risk associated with projects timely completion. Chris is married and has two boys in which he spends most of his free time with. Both of his boys are his pride and joy, both whom play baseball. In his free time, he enjoys his kids, working out, or attending sporting events.

Kevin Kaiser, Superintendent

Mr. Kaiser has worked in the construction industry in the Central Texas region for 20 years. He has worked on all types of projects both in residential and commercial developments. Mr. Kaiser has also owned and operated his own residential remodeling company for 10 years. Mr. Kaiser will serve as the Project Superintendent and will manage and control assigned projects, including overseeing field operations, site safety, productivity, schedule, quality work, and trade contractor and supplier coordination and work in conjunction with the Project Manager in leading the project team. One hundred percent of his time will be dedicated to the project.

Joey Lamar, Superintendent

Mr. Lamar has worked in the construction industry in the Central Texas region for 28 years. He has worked on all types of projects both in residential and commercial developments. Mr. Lamar has also owned and operated his own residential remodeling company for 16 years. Mr. Lamar started his business in 2003 in which he gained the knowledge and experience in the constructions business. He has a beautiful family in which has been married for 28 years, he also has three beautiful daughters that he loves with all his heart. On his free time he likes to go off roading, go to the beach, and restore old vehicles. Joey, will serve as the Project Superintendent, and will manage and control assigned projects, including overseeing field operations, site safety, productivity, schedule, quality work, and trade contractor and supplier coordination and work in conjunction with the Project Manager in leading the project team. One hundred percent of his time will be dedicated to the projects.
